Rocky start for Catamount fall teams

by

How much have University of Vermont’s fall sports struggled? Well …

The men’s soccer team  is 0-4-3; women’s soccer is 0-6-1; and field hockey is 1-7.

That adds up to a 1-17-4 record. It doesn’t take an expert to see that scoring has been a big factor, with the three teams combining for 13 goals in 22 games.

All three teams are experiencing growing pains. Consider, the two soccer teams combined have brought in 25 new players this autumn. Of course, the America East portion of the schedule is fast approaching, a chance for the Cats to salvage decent seasons. Remember how the men’s soccer team went through a few rough patches during the 2007 regular season, then caught fire down the stretch en route to winning the America East crown and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament?
